Create a Local Restoration Project
From scratch, you can create a local restoration project by:
- making native wildflower seedballs (http://tinyurl.com/seedball)
- starting a garden of wildflowers and other native plants
- creating a wildlife pond in your garden/community
- creating a butterfly meadow
- gardening for bumblebees http://www.bumblebeeconservation.org/gardening_for_bumblebees.htm) - wherever you live in the UK you should be able to attract at least 6 bumblebee species to your garden, and perhaps as many at 10.

- tree nurseries can be created in all countries using native trees sourced locally. They can be created in your backgarden, in schools or in community centres.
Please send us more examples of local restoration that you are doing and REtweet them!

Creating your own tree nursery/school tree nursery - If you want to set up your own tree nursery with native species, contact the Woodland Trust, English Woodlands or local tree nurseries or ideally collect your own native seeds from woodlands or hedgerows. 50 native trees can be planted in raised beds without taking up much space – about 5 steps long x 2 steps wide. The following year, the trees can be planted out in degraded areas, or into the wider community – please contact your local Council for suitable sites. We can also advise you on best practice for creating tree nurseries and planting trees – please email andreas at earthrestorationservice.org
School Tree Nurseries – become a Representative for the Earth Restoration Service School Tree Nurseries Programme in the UK and worldwide – http://www.earthrestorationservice.org/page/122/a-tree-nursery-in-school.htm - the aim is to enrol 1000 schools over the next 5 years. Tree nurseries are created in schools with the participation of children, and then planted out in degraded areas. Children learn about trees, how they live and why they matter – this programme is very successful and inspiring for all involved. If you work in a school, or if your child goes to a school, or you have contacts in a school and want to join this programme, please email: Andreas at earthrestorationservice.org
